The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs have added several future opponents to their football schedules, including a marquee matchup with Alabama and two FCS programs, the school announced Wednesday.
The Bulldogs’ agreement with Alabama covers a single game at Saban Field at Bryant‑Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on August 25, 2029. According to a copy of the contract obtained by FBSchedules.com, the Crimson Tide will pay Louisiana Tech a $1,382,500 guarantee for the contest.
Louisiana Tech and Alabama have met five times, beginning with a 1966 matchup in Birmingham. The Bulldogs have won the last three meetings — including an Alabama forfeit in 1993 — and currently lead the series 3–2.
The Bulldogs also added two Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) opponents to their future slate. Louisiana Tech will host Mississippi Valley State on September 2, 2028, for a $215,000 guarantee, followed by Central Arkansas on September 8, 2029, for a $325,000 payout.
LA Tech is 2–0 all‑time against Mississippi Valley State and 3–0 against Central Arkansas.
Additionally, the school confirmed a future road game at Mississippi State, first reported Tuesday. Louisiana Tech will receive $1.1 million for playing the game, per the contract.
The Bulldogs also announced date changes for previously scheduled road contests at Kansas and Texas. Louisiana Tech will now visit Kansas on August 28, 2027 (moved from September 18) and Texas on August 26, 2028 (moved from September 2).
Louisiana Tech is set to begin its first season as a member of the Sun Belt Conference on Saturday, Sept. 5 at home against FCS Northwestern State. The Bulldogs’ first Sun Belt opponent is Louisiana at home on October 10.

In 2018, Alabama scheduled two guarantee games against Louisiana-Monroe. The games were played in 2022 and 2025. The guarantee? $1.915 and $1.925 million for 2022 and 2025 respectively.
Also in 2018, Alabama signed a contract to host Southern Miss in 2019 for $1.9 million, and to host Western Kentucky in 2023 (later moved to 2024) for $1.9 million.
With major power conference schools scheduling fewer guarantee games per season, Group of Five schools should not count on any more $1.9 million paydays, or anything close
