James Madison to host Morehead State in 2021, Norfolk State in 2022

By Kevin Kelley -

The James Madison Dukes have added games against Morehead State (2021) and Norfolk State (2022) to their future football schedules, the Daily News-Record has reported.

James Madison will host the Morehead State Eagles at Bridgeforth Stadium in Harrisonburg, Virginia, on Sept. 4, 2021.

In nine previous meeting on the gridiron, James Madison has defeated Morehead State seven times. JMU won the most recent meeting 80-7 in 2016 and has won four consecutive games dating back to 1987.

Morehead State is the first scheduled non-conference opponent for James Madison for the 2021 season. The Dukes need two more opponents to complete their slate.

The addition of JMU gives Morehead State their second non-conference game that season. The Eagles are also slated to host the Robert Morris Colonials on Sept. 18.

The Norfolk State Spartans will make the 220 mile trek to Harrisonburg to take on the Dukes on Sept. 10, 2022. The two Virginia schools have only met twice on the gridiron. Both resulted in victories for James Madison, 75-14 in 2017 and 17-0 in 2018.

With the addition of Norfolk State, the Dukes now have two non-conference games set in 2022. JMU, also scheduled to play at the Louisville Cardinals on Nov. 5, now only needs one additional game to complete their 2022 slate.

James Madison is the first announced non-conference opponent for Norfolk State in 2022.
