By Kevin Kelley -

The Jacksonville Dolphins have announced their 2019 football schedule, which includes six home games and 12 contests overall.

“This is another challenging schedule that will test us throughout,” said Head Coach Ian Shields. “The opportunity to add a 12th game this year for the first time is a great opportunity for us to strap it up an additional time in 2019.”

Jacksonville will open the 2019 season with four consecutive non-conference games, beginning on the road on Thursday, Aug. 29 at the Richmond Spiders.

After their only open date of the season, Jacksonville travels to take on the Presbyterian Blue Hose on Sept. 14. The Dolphins then host back-to-back home contests at D.B. Milne Field against the Dartmouth Big Green on Sept. 21 and the Ave Maria Gyrenes, an NAIA team, on Sept. 28.

The Presbyterian and Ave Maria contests were both previously unannounced.

Jacksonville kicks off Pioneer Football League (PFL) play on Oct. 5 at the Dayton Flyers. The Dolphins then play back-to-back contests at home against the Morehead State Eagles on Oct. 12 followed by the Davidson Wildcats on Oct. 19.

The Dolphins hit the road to take on the Butler Bulldogs on Oct. 26 before returning to D.B. Milne Field to host the Stetson Hatters on Nov. 2.

JU again plays consecutive road contests, this time at the Drake Bulldogs on Nov. 9 and at the Marist Red Foxes on Nov. 16. The Dolphins close out their 2019 schedule at home against the San Diego Toreros on Nov. 23.

Jacksonville finished the 2018 season 2-8 overall and 1-7 in PFL action. The Dolphins’ 2019 Spring Game is set for Saturday, March 30 at 1:00pm ET at D.B. Milne Field.
