The Jackson State Tigers have added the Edward Waters Tigers to their 2021 spring football schedule, the school has announced.
Jackson State, a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), will host Edwards Waters at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium in Jackson, Miss., on either Friday, Feb. 19 or Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021.
“We are very happy to add an eighth game and fifth home game to our spring 2021 football schedule,” said JSU Vice President and Director of Athletics Ashley Robinson. “I’m very excited for our student-athletes and our fans. We have a great spring 2021 schedule.”
Edwards Waters College, located in Jacksonville, Fla., is a member of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
Last week, Jackson State announced they will play a SWAC foe, the Southern Jaguars, in a non-conference contest at home on Saturday, April 3, 2021. Southern was not included in Jackson State’s six-game conference schedule set by the SWAC.
After hosting Edward Waters, Jackson State opens spring SWAC action on Saturday, Feb. 27 at home against the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils. The Tigers are also scheduled to host Prairie View A&M and Alabama A&M.
Road SWAC opponents for Jackson State this spring include Grambling State, Alabama State, and Alcorn State.
