Indiana State to host Lindenwood in 2020, play at Ball State in 2023

The Indiana State Sycamores have added games against Lindenwood (2020) and Ball State (2023) to their future football schedules, FBSchedules.com has learned.

Copies of contracts for both games were obtained from Indiana State University via a state public records request.

Indiana State will host the Lindenwood Lions at Memorial Stadium in Terre Haute on Sept. 19, 2020. Indiana State will pay Lindenwood a $50,000 guarantee for the game, according to the copy of the contract.

Lindenwood University, located in St. Charles, Missouri, competes in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) in Division II. The 2020 contest will mark the first-ever meeting between Indiana State and Lindenwood on the gridiron.

The Indiana State Sycamores will make a 138-mile trip to Muncie to take on the Ball State Cardinals on Sept. 16, 2023. Ball State will pay Indiana State a $300,000 guarantee for the game, per the contract copy.

In 63 previous meetings, Indiana State is 24-38-1 against Ball State. In their most recent meeting in 2014, the Sycamores traveled to Muncie and upset the Cardinals 27-20.

The addition of games against Lindenwood and Ball State tentatively completes the non-conference schedules for Indiana State for both the 2020 and 2023 seasons. Other opponents for ISU in 2020 include Eastern Illinois (Sept. 5) and Middle Tennessee (Sept. 12), both on the road.

In 2023, the Sycamores are scheduled to host Eastern Illinois (Sept. 2) and play at Indiana (Sept. 9) before traveling to Ball State.

Ball State has also tentatively completed their non-conference schedule for 2023. The Cardinals are slated to open the season with back-to-back road games at Kentucky (Sept. 2) and Army (Sept. 9) before hosting Indiana State (Sept. 16) and Georgia Southern (Sept. 23).
