Illinois, UConn Schedule 2019-20 Home-and-Home Football Series

By Kevin Kelley -

The Illinois Fighting Illini and the UConn Huskies have scheduled a home-and-home football series for 2019 and 2020, both schools announced today.

Illinois will travel to face UConn at Rentschler Field in East Hartford on Sept. 7, 2019. The Huskies will then face the Illini at Memorial Stadium in Champaign on Sept. 12, 2020.

Provided the two schools don’t square off in the postseason anytime soon, the 2019 contest will be their first ever meeting.

Today’s announcement gives both Illinois and UConn their first scheduled non-conference opponent for both the 2019 and 2020 seasons.

Illinois has completed their Big Ten football schedule through the 2019 season and their non-conference schedule through 2018. The Fighting Illini need two non-conference games for each season from 2019 through 2024.

UConn’s future non-conference schedules have several openings from 2016 onward. The Huskies were slated to play Tennessee in a home-and-home series in 2015 and 2016, but it has been postponed to a date to be announced.

I love that Illinois has sensible scheduling. Every point they need to prove can be made in the nine game B1G schedule.
