The Houston Baptist Huskies have released their 2021 football schedule, which includes five contests at home and 11 games overall.
Houston Baptist opens the 2021 season with three consecutive non-conference contests, beginning on the road on Thursday, Sept. 2 at the New Mexico Lobos. The Huskies open their home schedule the following week on Sept. 11 at Husky Stadium in Houston, Texas, against the Northern Colorado Bears.
A trip to take on the Prairie View A&M Panthers on Sept. 18 concludes the non-conference portion of Houston Baptist’s 2021 football schedule.
Southland Conference action in 2021 will have a unique format following the departure of Abilene Christian, Lamar, Sam Houston State, and Stephen F. Austin for the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) and Central Arkansas’ move to the Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN).
With only six teams in the Southland Conference in 2021, each member will play three other members in a home-and-home series plus two additional single games for a total of eight conference contests.
Following an open date on Sept. 25, Houston Baptist opens Southland Conference action on Oct. 2 at the Nicholls Colonels. Nicholls will return the trip to Husky Stadium on Oct. 23.
The Northwestern State Demons will visit Houston on Oct. 9. HBU will return the game in Natchitches, La., four weeks later on Nov. 6. The third in-season home-and-home series for Houston Baptist features the Huskies visiting UIW on Oct. 30 before hosting UIW to close out the regular-season on Nov. 20.
Houston Baptist will also play single games at Southeastern Louisiana on Oct. 16 and at home against McNeese on Nov. 13.

Houston Baptist played a four-game non-conference football schedule in the fall of 2020 and finished 1-3. The Huskies opted out of competing in the spring 2021 Southland Conference season.
