The Houston Cougars at SMU Mustangs football game has been postponed due to COVID-19, it was announced on Wednesday.

The two schools were scheduled to meet at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas, Texas, on Saturday, Nov. 21. The game was postponed due to “…positive COVID-19 cases within the Cougars’ football program.”

The two schools will work with the American Athletic Conference to reschedule the game. Both schools share Dec. 12 as an open date.

“The health and well-being of our student-athletes and staff remains our top priority,” UH Vice President for Athletics Chris Pezman said. “Postponing a game is not an easy decision to make, but we appreciate the collaborative approach from SMU and the American Athletic Conference as we worked through this decision. We are also very appreciative of the continued care of our medical staff and athletic trainers, who have worked tirelessly throughout this season.”

Houston’s next contest is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 28 at home against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.

SMU is also scheduled to play on Saturday, Nov. 28 on the road against the East Carolina Pirates.
