The 2020 Houston Cougars at Memphis Tigers football game has been rescheduled for Saturday, December 5, the American Athletic Conference has announced.

The Houston-Memphis game was previously scheduled for Friday, Sept. 18, 2020 at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Memphis, Tenn., but was postponed due to “…COVID-19 issues at Memphis.”

The American Athletic Conference Football Championship Game is currently scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5, but will likely be pushed back to Dec. 12 or Dec. 19 with this announcement.

The Cougars are slated to be off this weekend before finally opening their 2020 season on Thursday, Oct. 8 at home against the Tulane Green Wave. The game will be televised by ESPN at 7:30pm ET.

Memphis opened the 2020 season on Saturday, Sept. 5 with a 37-24 victory over the Arkansas State Red Wolves at home. As a result of game cancellations due to COVID-19, the Tigers have not played a second game.

Memphis is next scheduled to play this weekend on Saturday, Oct. 3 when they travel to face the SMU Mustangs. The game is scheduled for 3:30pm ET with television coverage on ESNP2.
