By Kevin Kelley -

The Hampton Pirates have announced their 2020 football schedule, which includes seven home contests.

Hampton will open the 2020 season at home at Armstrong Stadium in Hampton, Va., on Saturday, Sept. 5 against the Virginia Union Panthers. Last season, Virginia Union traveled to Hampton and defeated the Pirates, 36-17.

The Pirates’ first road contest of the season is scheduled for Sept. 12 at Old Dominion. The following week on Sept. 19, Hampton hosts Howard at Armstrong Stadium.

An opponent for Sept. 26 will be announced at a later date, according to the release from the school.

Next, Hampton will host three consecutive contests at Armstrong Stadium, beginning with Fort Valley State on Oct. 3 for Homecoming. Gardner-Webb visits on Oct. 10 for Hampton’s first Big South Conference game of the season, and that’s followed by Campbell on Oct. 17.

After an off week on Oct. 24, Hampton travels to take on Kennesaw State on Oct. 31 before returning home to host Monmouth on Nov. 7.

Hampton is slated to play at North Alabama on Nov. 14, which is followed by their regular-season finale at home against Charleston Southern on Nov. 21.

“We greatly appreciate the patience of Pirate Nation and are happy to announce our schedule,” said Hampton University Director of Athletics Eugene Marshall, Jr. “With Homecoming now set for October 3, we are looking forward to seeing 20,000 strong for Homecoming 2020. We will be announcing an additional game at a later date.”
