The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the Temple Owls have scheduled a home-and-home football series for 2019 and 2025, the two schools announced on Wednesday.
In the first game of the series, Georgia Tech will travel to face Temple at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Sept. 28, 2019. The Yellow Jackets will then host the Owls at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta on Sept. 20, 2025.
The 2019 contest will be the first-ever matchup between Georgia Tech and Temple on the gridiron.
Georgia Tech has now completed their 2019 non-conference schedule. The Yellow Jackets are slated to host USF (Sept. 7), The Citadel (Sept. 14), and Georgia (Nov. 30) in addition to the newly announced Temple game on Sept. 28.
“We talk about dominating our recruiting footprint, which is obviously Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.,” said Temple head coach Geoff Collins. “My experience in the SEC and the ACC makes Georgia and Florida very important areas for recruiting as well. That’s why the Georgia Tech and Miami games are integral parts of establishing our national presence for Temple football.”
Temple has previously completed its 2019 non-conference schedule, but canceled a game against Army in order to play Georgia Tech.
The remainder of Temple’s 2019 slate includes home games against Bucknell (Aug. 31) and Maryland (Sept. 14) and a trip to Buffalo (Sept. 21).
