The Georgia Southern Eagles have added the Morgan State Bears to their 2022 football schedule, FBSchedules.com has learned.
Georgia Southern will host Morgan State at Paulson Stadium in Statesboro on Sept. 3, 2022. The Eagles will pay the Bears a $320,000 guarantee for the game, according to a copy of the contract obtained from Georgia Southern University via a state open records request.
The 2020 contest between Georgia Southern and Morgan State will be their first-ever meeting on the football field.
Morgan State is a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Bears finished the 2018 season 4-7 overall and 3-4 in MEAC play.
The addition of Morgan State tentatively completes Georgia Southern’s 2022 non-conference schedule. The Eagles are also slated to play at Nebraska on Sept. 10 and UAB on Sept. 17, and then host Ball State on Sept. 24.
Georgia Southern is the first scheduled non-conference opponent for Morgan State for the 2022 season.
Georgia Southern is scheduled to open the 2019 season on the road against the LSU Tigers on Saturday, Aug. 31. Morgan State opens their 2019 slate two days prior on Thursday, Aug. 29 at the Bowling Green Falcons.
