Eastern Illinois announces 2020 football schedule

The Eastern Illinois Panthers have announced their 2020 football schedule, which features a game at Kentucky.

Eastern Illinois will open the 2020 season on Thursday, Sept. 3 against Indiana State at home at O’Brien Field in Charleston, Ill. The Panthers will then travel to take on Illinois State the following week on Sept. 12.

After their only open date of the season on Sept. 19, Eastern Illinois travels to take on UT Martin on Sept. 26. Note that in EIU’s release, they state their game at UT Martin is on Sept. 26, but UT Martin lists the game for Sept. 19.

Austin Peay makes a visit to O’Brien Field on Oct. 3, which will be Homecoming weekend for Eastern Illinois. The Panthers then travel for back-to-back contests at Kentucky on Oct. 10 and at Eastern Kentucky on Oct. 17.

Eastern Illinois returns home to host Jacksonville State on Oct. 24 before traveling to face Murray State on Halloween (Oct. 31).

The Panthers close out the 2020 regular-season with two of three games at home in Charleston. Eastern Illinois hosts Southeast Missouri on Nov. 7, plays at Tennessee State on Nov. 14, and then hosts Tennessee Tech on Nov. 21.

Eastern Illinois finished the 2019 season 1-11 overall and 1-7 in Ohio Valley Conference action. The season was the first under head coach Adam Cushing.
