The Dayton Flyers and the Eastern Illinois Panthers have scheduled a home-and-home football series for the 2021 and 2025 seasons, both schools have announced.
In the first game of the series, Dayton will host Eastern Illinois at Welcome Stadium in Dayton, Ohio, on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021. The series will conclude with the Flyers traveling to face the Panthers at O’Brien Field in Charleston, Ill., on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025.
The 2021 Dayton-Eastern Illinois contest will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
Dayton is a member of the Pioneer Football League (PFL), while Eastern Illinois plays in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC), both in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).
Eastern Illinois is the second scheduled non-conference opponent for Dayton for the fall 2021 season and first for the 2025 season. The Flyers are also scheduled to play at the Southern Illinois Salukis on Sept. 18, 2021.
With the addition of Dayton, Eastern Illinois has completed their non-conference schedule for 2021. The Panthers also have games scheduled at the South Carolina Gamecocks on Sept. 4 and at home against the Illinois State Redbirds on Sept. 18.
Dayton is the second scheduled non-conference opponent for Eastern Illinois in 2025. The Panthers are also scheduled to travel to face the Indiana State Sycamores on Sept. 6 that season.
Eastern Illinois is currently scheduled to open a seven-game spring schedule on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2021, on the road against the UT Martin Skyhawks. On January 13, Dayton announced that they were opting out of spring 2021 competition.
