College football rankings: Week 3, 2018

By Kevin Kelley -

College football rankings for week 3 have been released. Alabama remains the top-ranked team, while Oklahoma State and Arizona State made the biggest jumps in both polls.

Oklahoma State, which defeated South Alabama 55-13, moved into the AP Poll at No. 24 and moved up four spots in the Coaches Poll to No. 19. Arizona State upset Michigan State 16-13, vaulting the Sun Devils into the AP Poll at No. 23 and into the Coaches Poll at No. 25.

The top nine teams are the same in both Week 3 polls: Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Auburn, Notre Dame, and Stanford.

In the FCS Coaches Poll, North Dakota State remained in first place. The Bison are followed by James Madison, South Dakota State, Sam Houston State, and Eastern Washington.

Question for the Coaches Poll voters

Having Michigan ST #24 Arizona ST #25 and Texas AM the highest voted team out of the poll makes no sense at all. Arizona St just beat Michigan St last week and both teams were otherwise undefeated against Group of 5 competition. Texas A&M just lost by 2 points to the team you had #2 and played a really close game. So how about 24 Texas A&M 25 Arizona ST and Michigan St outside the Top 25.

If the only reason they are still ranked is you thought they were good before the season started, then think again and watch the games. At least the AP poll had Arizona St ranked higher than the team they just beat.
