The Cincinnati Bearcats have added the Austin Peay Governors to their 2020 football schedule, FBSchedules.com has learned.

Cincinnati will host Austin Peay at Nippert Stadium on Sept. 5, 2020. The Bearcats will pay the Governors a $390,000 guarantee for the game, according to a copy of the contract obtained from the University of Cincinnati via a state public records request.

Cincinnati and Austin Peay first met on the gridiron in 1985 and have played six times overall. The Bearcats won the most recent meeting 26-14 in 2017 to extend their lead in the series to 6-0.

Austin Peay, located in Clarksville, Tennessee, is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Governors are 3-4 overall and 1-3 in conference play so far this season.

The addition of Austin Peay tentatively completes Cincinnati’s non-conference schedule for the 2020 season. The Bearcats are also scheduled to host Western Michigan (Sept. 12) and make back-to-back road trips to Miami OH (Sept. 19) and Nebraska (Sept. 26).

In American Athletic Conference action in 2020, Cincinnati is slated to host East Carolina, Houston, Memphis, and USF and play at Temple, Tulsa, UCF, and UConn.

Cincinnati is the second 2020 non-conference opponent scheduled for Austin Peay to go along with a game at Central Arkansas (Sept. 19).

Austin Peay’s OVC matchups in 2020 include at Eastern Illinois (Oct. 3), vs. Eastern Kentucky (Oct. 10), at Jacksonville State (Oct. 17), vs. Murray State (Oct. 24), at Southeast Missouri (Oct. 31), vs. Tennessee State (Nov. 7), at Tennessee Tech (Nov. 14), and vs. UT Martin (Nov. 21).
