The Cincinnati Bearcats at Tulsa Golden Hurricane football game scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17 has been postponed, it was announced on Thursday.

The game was postponed due to novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) issues at Cincinnati. The Bearcats-Golden Hurricane contest has been rescheduled and will now be played at H.A. Chapman Stadium in Tulsa, Okla., on Saturday, Dec. 5.

“We are disappointed we will be unable to play Tulsa Saturday,” Cincinnati Director of Athletics John Cunningham said. “We knew this season was going to require a lot of patience and flexibility and disruptions were likely to happen. The health and safety of student-athletes, coaches and staff is always our primary focus and we appreciated the outstanding work and continued dedicated of our medical staff throughout the pandemic.”

Cincinnati, which was off last weekend, will next play at the 17th-ranked SMU Mustangs on Saturday, Oct. 24. The Bearcats are 3-0 this season following wins over Austin Peay, Army, and USF.

“I’m disappointed, first, for our football student-athletes and coaches, and obviously for our staff who has prepared so diligently, our campus and the City of Tulsa,” Tulsa Director of Athletics Rick Dickson said. “This TU Homecoming game was a great opportunity to showcase our football program, the community and the American Athletic Conference against the nation’s No. 8 team. As the university, the conference and the NCAA have said throughout this pandemic, the health and safety of our student-athletes are at the forefront of all decisions.”

Tulsa was also off last weekend and is scheduled to play at the USF Bulls on Friday, Oct. 23. The Golden Hurricane opened the season with a 16-7 loss at Oklahoma State before winning on the road at UCF, 34-26.
