Cincinnati adds Kennesaw State to 2022 football schedule

The Cincinnati Bearcats have added the Kennesaw State Owls to their 2022 football schedule, FBSchedules.com has learned.

A copy of the game contract was obtained from the University of Cincinnati via a state public records request.

Cincinnati will host Kennesaw State at Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Sept. 10, 2022. The Bearcats will pay the Owls a $400,000 guarantee for playing the game, according to a copy of the contract.

Kennesaw State is a member of the Big South Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Owls, who started their football program in 2015, have won two conference championships and have made three FCS Playoff appearances.

The addition of Kennesaw State tentatively completes Cincinnati’s non-conference football schedule for the 2022 season. Other opponents for the Bearcats include Arkansas on the road on Sept. 3, Miami (Ohio) at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati on Sept. 17, and Indiana at home on Sept. 24.

Cincinnati is the third known non-conference opponent for Kennesaw State in 2022. The Owls are also scheduled to play at Samford on Thursday, Sept. 1 and host Wofford at Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Kennesaw, Ga., on Sept. 17.

With only seven Big South Conference members in football, Kennesaw State plays a six-game conference schedule. That means in most seasons, they will schedule five non-conference opponents.
