Central Arkansas, Stephen F. Austin to play home-and-home football series in 2022, 2023

The Central Arkansas Bears and the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks will play a home-and-home football series in 2022 and 2023, FBSchedules.com has learned.

The first game of the home-and-home series between Central Arkansas and Stephen F. Austin was revealed when the two schools released their schedules for the 2022 season earlier this year. That first game will feature Central Arkansas traveling to face Stephen F. Austin at Homer Bryce Stadium in Nacogdoches, Texas, on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022.

The series will conclude with the Bears hosting the Lumberjacks next season at Estes Stadium in Conway, Ark., on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, according to a copy of the contract obtained from Stephen F. Austin State University via a state public records request.

Central Arkansas and Stephen F. Austin first met on the gridiron in 2006 and have played 14 contests overall. In their most recent matchup on Nov. 13, 2021, the Lumberjacks defeated the Bears 27-14 in Conway, but the Bears still lead the overall series 10-4.

Central Arkansas is currently a member of the ASUN Conference following their departure from the Southland Conference in 2021. Stephen F. Austin also departed the Southland last year and now competes in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).

Central Arkansas is scheduled to open the 2022 season on Thursday, Sept. 1 at home against the Bobby Petrino-led Missouri State Bears. Stephen F. Austin opens their fall 2022 campaign in Week Zero on Saturday, Aug. 27 against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Ala.
