The BYU Cougars and the Nevada Wolf Pack have scheduled a 3-game football series for 2013, 2014, and 2019, both BYU and Nevada announced this evening.

Nevada will host the first game of the series at Mackay Stadium in Reno on Nov. 30, 2013. The final two games will be played at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo on Oct. 18, 2014 and Sept. 21, 2019.

BYU and Nevada have met eight times since 1929 with the last meeting coming in 2010 in Provo. The Cougars lead the overall series 4-2-2.

Nevada was previously scheduled to host Oregon on Sept. 7, 2013, but the game has been moved to Sept. 7, 2019 and will now be played in Eugene. The Wolf Pack made the change in part to lighten their non-conference schedule in 2013.

Nevada opens the 2013 season at UCLA (Aug. 31), hosts UC Davis (Sept. 14), and travels to Florida State (Sept. 21).

“We needed to make some changes to help balance our schedule and prepare our team to be successful within the Mountain West,” Nevada athletics director Cary Groth said. “Playing UCLA is a good game for us for a number of reasons, including our recruiting efforts in California. We exhausted all possibilities to address the Florida State game and could not come up with a mutually acceptable resolution. At that point, moving the Oregon game was our best option.”

Nevada takes the place of Hawaii on BYU’s 2013 football schedule. Due to the Mountain West Expanding to 12 teams and holding a championship game, Hawaii and BYU will not play in 2013 and possibly 2014 as well.

BYU’s 2013 schedule will be announced tonight on BYUtv at 8:30 p.m. ET. Their only contest with an unknown date is Middle Tennessee. It will be either Sept. 14, Sept. 28, or Nov. 2.

Am I right or will mtsu move their Memphis game on 9-14, or byu will actually not have a bye on 11-2

No, you could still be wrong. The game could be on 9/27, a Friday night, or on 9/26, a Thursday night, since ESPN could move the game to Thursday or Friday night. I’ve honestly thought this has a good chance to be moved to 9/27 from the start.

Watching true blue on byutv, the MTSU game will b on Friday the 27th. So I will now eat some crow

Looks like the MWC TV bonus has helped BYU. BYU appears to have shrugged off Hawaii and has a 2 for 1 here. It may only be Boise and UNLV from the MWC that get home and homes with BYU going forward.

2 for 1s are needed to balance future road games. An MWC team to satisfy this needs seems like a win for BYU.
