The Buffalo Bulls at Ohio Bobcats football game has been canceled due to COVID-19, the MAC announced on Friday.

The two schools were scheduled to meet at Peden Stadium in Athens, Ohio, on Saturday, Dec. 5. The game will not be played due to “…roster issues with the Ohio football team related to positive COVID-19 tests and subsequent contact tracing.”

The Buffalo-Ohio game will not be rescheduled and has been declared a no contest.

“While we are disappointed our game at Ohio has been canceled, the health and safety of our student-athletes continues to be our top priority,” head coach Buffalo Lance Leipold said. “I’m extremely proud of our student-athletes, coaches and staff. They have done everything the right way during these difficult times. In fact, we didn’t have a single positive case this week. We were looking forward to playing Ohio, but we will now shift our attention to our next opponent, Akron.”

Buffalo is 4-0 so far this season. The Bulls’ next scheduled contest is on Saturday, Dec. 12 at home against the Akron Zips.

This is the second game canceled for Ohio (2-1) this season. The Bobcats are slated to return to the gridiron on Saturday, Dec. 12 at the Kent State Golden Flashes.
