How does the Big Ten Network show multiple games at the same time?
Not sure how it works in the rest of the country, but here in San Jose, CA on DirecTV I have alternates. So sometimes at 9am on a Saturday I can watch games on Big10, Big10alt1, Big10alt2, etc.
Big Ten Network has regional feeds and a national feed. The game shown nationall, including the main channel on DirecTV, DISH , & AT&T U-Verse is always the main feed game. However many of those stations are authorized to show the regional feeds are shown on alternate channels. The same thing applies for Pac-12 Networks games.
In Big Ten country, they break it down where you always get your regional feed, and if your team isn’t playing at that time, you get the national feed.
Here in San Diego on Time Warner there are 3 Big Ten Network channels..483-484-485 and they show exactly the same thing. Except if they have mutlitple games they split them between those channels.
I don’t understand why BTN aires so many games at the same time and then in Week 2 doesn’t have an afternoon game.
The Big Ten promises ESPN/ABC certain games of national interest on an exclusive basis. SDSU @ OSU is one of those games,.
What happened to the Nebraska vs. Penn State rivalry? I see that the two teams will not be playing after 2013.
Penn State doesn’t want any part of the Big Red
After1913 the 14 Big 10 teams split into geographical divisions, East and West. Each team must play all the other teams in their division. Nebraska and Penn State are obviously in different divisions and may play in the future.
