Auburn, Georgia Tech cancel 2017-18 football series

By Kevin Kelley -

The Auburn Tigers and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have canceled their future home-and-home football series. The two schools were to play at Tech in 2017 and at Auburn in 2018.

In an email to FBSchedules.com, Georgia Tech Assistant Athletic Director/Media Relations Dean Buchan wrote:

We have no football contracts with Auburn at this time.

References to the series between the schools have also been removed from the future schedules on Georgia Tech’s official website.

It appears that the Yellow Jackets replaced Auburn with another SEC school, the Ole Miss Rebels. The series against Ole Miss was initially scheduled for 2019 and 2020, but was moved to 2017 and 2018.

Georgia Tech’s 2017 non-conference schedule now consists of Georgia, at BYU and at Ole Miss. Their 2018 schedule is Ole Miss, Tulane and at Georgia. The Yellow Jackets still need one game for both years.

Will the two schools reschedule the games at a later date? That remains to be seen, but doesn’t look like a possibility for Tech until after 2020.
