Arkansas State to play at Washington in 2021

The Arkansas State Red Wolves will play at the Washington Huskies in 2021, the school announced on Wednesday.

Arkansas State will square off with Washington at Husky Stadium in Seattle on Sept. 18, 2021. The Red Wolves will reportedly receive a $1.75 million guarantee for the game.

The 2021 contest will be the first-ever meeting between Arkansas State and Washington on the gridiron.

Arkansas State now has three announced non-conference opponents for the 2021 season. The Red Wolves are slated to open the season with back-to-back games at home against the Central Arkansas Bears on Sept. 4 and the Memphis Tigers on Sept. 11.

The addition of Arkansas State tentatively completes Washington’s non-conference schedule in 2021. Since the Pac-12 plays nine conference games, the Huskies only need three non-conference opponents each season.

Washington is scheduled to open the 2021 season at home against the Montana Grizzlies on Sept. 4 before traveling to Ann Arbor to take on the Michigan Wolverines on Sept. 11.

Why would Washington pay so much to a team that has no attraction to the fans of the northwest, when a Mountain West team could have been scheduled for less?
