The Arkansas State Red Wolves have added the Grambling State Tigers to their 2022 football schedule, according to a report by AStateNation.
Arkansas State will host Grambling State to open the season at Centennial Bank Stadium in Jonesboro, Ark., on Sept. 3, 2022. The game will mark the second meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
In their first and only football matchup, Arkansas State defeated Grambling State 10-7 in the first round of the 1985 Division I-AA playoffs. The Red Wolves fell the next week in the quarterfinal round to the Nevada Wolf Pack, 24-23.
With the addition of Grambling State, Arkansas State has completed their non-conference football schedule for the 2022 season. After hosting the Tigers, Arkansas State is scheduled to play consecutive contests on the road against the Ohio State Buckeyes on Sept. 10 and the Memphis Tigers on Sept. 17.
Arkansas State closes out non-conference action in 2022 when they host the UMass Minutemen in Jonesboro on Nov. 12.
Grambling State now has two of their three non-conference opponents scheduled for the 2022 season. Following their trip to Jonesboro, Grambling State heads to Independence Stadium in Shreveport, La., to take on the Northwestern State Demons on Sept. 10.
Arkansas State is currently scheduled to open the 2020 season on Saturday, Sept. 5 on the road against the Memphis Tigers. Grambling State is slated to open their schedule one day later on Sunday, Sept. 6 in the MEAC/SWAC Challenge against the South Carolina State Bulldogs at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga.
