The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Nebraska Cornhuskers have scheduled a home-and-home football series for the 2032 and 2033 seasons, according to an official announcement Wednesday.
Notre Dame will open the series on the road, traveling to face Nebraska at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Neb., on October 30, 2032. The matchup shifts to South Bend, Ind., the following year, with the Fighting Irish set to host the Cornhuskers at Notre Dame Stadium on October 29, 2033.
“The series with Notre Dame is the type of matchup that college football fans circle on their calendars years in advance,” Nebraska Director of Athletics Troy Dannen said. “Our fans have a tremendous appreciation for the history of college football and iconic venues. We are excited to welcome Notre Dame and their fans to Lincoln in 2032, and I know our fans will travel to South Bend in full force in 2033.”
Nebraska and Notre Dame have met 16 times, with the Huskers holding an 8‑7‑1 edge in the all‑time series. The programs last faced off in 2001 in Lincoln, a 27–10 Nebraska victory — the Cornhuskers’ third straight win in the matchup.
Nebraska joins nine other opponents on Notre Dame’s 2032 football schedule. The Fighting Irish are set to host Clemson, Florida State, Louisville, Wake Forest, and Georgia Tech, with road trips to Florida, Miami (FL), Navy, and USC.
In 2033, Notre Dame is slated to host Virginia Tech, Pitt, and USC, while traveling to Michigan, Duke, Clemson, Boston College, and Louisville.
For Nebraska, Notre Dame becomes the first scheduled non‑conference opponent in 2032 and the second in 2033, joining a home matchup against Cincinnati.
So much for all those college football podcasters and “experts” who keep saying nobody wants to schedule Notre Dame. Even if Texas backs out of their series, Alabama has said they will honor the Notre dame series and they have games with Clemson and Auburn coming up in addition to USC coming back plus this game. Sorry to say it but this is further evidence of Notre Dame remaining independent. As long as they can continue to schedule quality opponents, they will NEVER join a conference. Deal with it!

I like it. Good to see ND and Nebraska on the field together again. It also seems to dispel the claim that playing ND and a Big 10 schedule in the same season is too difficult.
