The CFL is crazy come playoff time. It is rare that the division winners meet in the Grey Cup. Last year, Toronto finished 16-2, but I had a feeling Montreal would get them in the Eastern Final and they did just that.

Winnipeg has dominated the West; in fact, the Blue Bombers are looking to make the Grey Cup for the fifth straight year. They won two (2019, 2021) and then lost two white knucklers (2022, 2023).

Ottawa has struggled down the stretch and Toronto seems to be clicking now that Chad Kelly has settled in since missing the first nine games because of suspension. That said, would any CFL fan be surprised if Ottawa won?

If the Argos win next week, I can see them going into Montreal and reversing last year’s scenario by beating the Alouettes.

The Western teams don’t look as strong. I’d like someone other than Winnipeg to make it through, but do we trust both Saskatchewan and BC? I don’t.

I’ll predict Toronto versus Winnipeg in the Grey Cup for 2024.

The Grey Cup is still on Sunday, but they moved the playoffs to Saturday. Last year, the Saturday ratings were a bit better, so it looks like Saturday playoffs are here to stay. Thankfully, they kept the GC on Sunday.

The other sports are scared to death of the NFL—look at baseball. They started on a Friday and will end on a Saturday (if necessary). There are no Sunday games—they don’t want to embarrassed to see a regular season NFL game outdraw their championship series.

The NBA used to own Christmas day—no more. The NFL, despite poor QB play, inept officiating, flags on virtually every play, cannot be topped.

That’s kinda sad, but it is what it is.

NFL on Thanksgiving will always be My #1 Sports Holiday & as a fan of both Chicago Bears & Philadelphia Eagles I really like Detroit & Dallas hosting Thanksgiving Day games.
