The UMass Minutemen and the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks have scheduled a home-and-home football series for 2023 and 2024, it was announced Thursday.
The series will begin with UMass hosting Miami at Warren McGuirk Alumni Stadium in Hadley, Massachusetts, on September 9, 2023. The Minutemen will then travel to take on the RedHawks the following season at Yager Stadium in Oxford, Ohio, on September 28, 2024.
Miami (Ohio) has claimed victories in the last two meetings between the schools. The two teams first faced off in 2012, with the RedHawks claiming a 27-16 victory in Oxford. UMass defeated Miami 17-10 in 2013, and then Miami won the two most recent meetings, 42-41 in 2014 and 20-13 in 2015.
The 2023 contest is just UMass’ second home tilt for that season. The Minutemen welcome New Mexico for a Sept. 23 home outing. UMass has road contests scheduled at Eastern Michigan, New Mexico State, Liberty, Army, and Penn State.
Miami (Ohio) will also travel to Miami (FL) on Sept. 2 and Cincinnati on Sept. 16. The RedHawks’ 2023 schedule also includes a home contest against Liberty.
UMass’ game at Miami (Ohio) joins trips to Buffalo (Sept. 14), Northern Illinois (Oct. 5) and Mississippi State (Oct. 19) in the 2024 season. The Redhawks’ lone non-league home game in 2024 prior to this addition was a visit from Cincinnati, slated to take place Sept. 14.
UMass opens the 2019 season on Friday, Aug. 30 at Rutgers. Miami (Ohio) opens the following day with a road trip to face the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Football Schedules
I love the UMass 2022 schedule. Open the season with 5 straight away games. Home opener will also be Homecoming.
