The Texas A&M-Colorado Buffaloes football game in 2021 will be played at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, Colo., it was announced on Monday.

Texas A&M and Colorado will square off in Denver on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021. The game was originally scheduled to be played at Colorado’s Folsom Field in Boulder, Colo.

“We are very appreciative of Rick George and the staff at CU for the opportunity to once again host college football at Empower Field at Mile High,” said Jon Applegate, Director of Events & Booking for Empower Field. “Our stadium has become a top destination for sporting events, and we look forward to hosting two premier college football programs in our building in September.”

Texas A&M and Colorado were scheduled to play the first game of their home-and-home series last season in College Station, Texas, but the game was canceled due to the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. That contest will not be made up.

“We were disappointed that we couldn’t play in College Station this year, but we worked closely with Ross Bjork (A&M athletic director) and officials at Empower Field at Mile High to bring the game to Denver,” Colorado athletic director Rick George said.

Texas A&M and Colorado first met on the gridiron in 1995 and have played nine times overall. In their most recent meeting in 2009, the Buffaloes defeated the Aggies 35-34 in Boulder to extend their advantage in the series to 6-3.

Colorado is scheduled to open the 2021 season on Friday, Sept. 3 at home against the Northern Colorado Bears. Texas A&M opens their season the following day at home against the Kent State Golden Flashes.
