The 2018 Chiefs-Rams game will be played in Mexico City, the NFL announced on Friday.
Los Angeles will host Kansas City at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City on a date to be announced this spring in conjunction with the 2018 NFL Schedule release.
The Chiefs-Rams game will be part of the NFL’s International Series, which also includes three football games in London in 2018. Those three games include Seattle vs. Oakland, Philadelphia vs. Jacksonville, and Tennessee vs. Los Angeles Chargers.
“Over the past two seasons, we have seen the extraordinary passion that exists for NFL football in Mexico,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said. “We are excited for another memorable event at Estadio Azteca as the Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs head to Mexico City in 2018.”
A total of nine NFL games have been played in Mexico City, and only three were regular-season games. In the first regular-season game back in 2005, Arizona defeated San Francisco 31-14.
In 2017, Oakland played host to New England in Mexico City. The Patriots won that game 33-8.
The NFL is currently contracted to play one game in Mexico City through the 2021 season.
