2011 Big Ten Football Championship Game to be played in Indianapolis

Big TenThe first ever Big Ten Football Championship Game will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana in December 2011, the conference announced on Thursday.

The addition of the Nebraska Cornhuskers to the Big Ten in 2011 gives the conference 12 teams, which is the number required by the NCAA to hold a championship game.

From the Big Ten news release:

The conference office will begin a 30-day period to negotiate a one-year agreement with Indiana Sports Corp and Lucas Oil Stadium to host the game. Once the 2011 agreement is in place, the conference office will conduct a thorough process over the next year to determine the location of the Big Ten Football Championship Game in 2012 and beyond.
