The Western Carolina Catamounts have announced their 2020 football schedule, which includes five home contests.
Western Carolina will open the 2020 season with back-to-back games on the road at the Eastern Kentucky Colonels on Sept. 5 and at the Mercer Bears on Sept. 12. The Mercer contest opens Southern Conference (SoCon) action for Western Carolina.
The Catamounts open the home portion of their 2020 football schedule on Sept. 19 at E.J. Whitmire Stadium in Cullowhee, N.C., against the Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs.
Western Carolina returns to SoCon action the following week on Sept. 26 at the Furman Paladins before returning home to host the Chattanooga Mocs in Cullowhee for Homecoming on Oct. 3.
After an open date on Oct. 10, Western Carolina plays consecutive road contests at the East Tennessee State Buccaneers on Oct. 17 and at the Samford Bulldogs on Oct. 24.
Western Carolina then hosts back-to-back games at E.J. Whitmire Stadium against the Wofford Terriers on Oct. 31 and the VMI Keydets on Nov. 7.
Western Carolina plays their third and final non-conference contest of the season on Nov. 14 at Liberty before wrapping up their regular-season schedule on Nov. 21 at home against The Citadel Bulldogs.
Last season, the Catamounts finished 3-9 overall and 2-6 in SoCon action. Western Carolina’s first and only conference championship came in 1949 where they went 8-3 in the North State Conference, now known as Conference Carolinas.
