The UAB Blazers have added the Central Arkansas Bears and the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns to their 2020 football schedule, the school announced on Thursday.
UAB will host the Central Arkansas Bears of the Southland Conference at Legion Field in Birmingham, Ala., on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2020. The game will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
The Blazers will also host the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns at Legion Field on Friday, Oct. 23, 2020. The two schools have squared off six times with the Blazers currently leading the series 4-2.
Games against Central Arkansas and Louisiana replace UAB’s canceled games against New Mexico State and Alabama A&M due to the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Back in February, UAB and Louisiana announced they had scheduled a future home-and-home football series. UAB will host Louisiana in the first game in Birmingham on Sept. 16, 2023 before traveling to take on the Ragin’ Cajuns in Lafayette, La., on Sept. 19, 2026.
UAB now has a 10-game schedule set for the 2020 season with byes on Sept. 19 and Nov. 7. In addition to Central Arkansas and Louisiana, home opponents include UTSA, WKU, North Texas, and Southern Miss.
The Blazers will travel to take on Miami (FL), South Alabama, Rice, Louisiana Tech, and UTEP.
