The Southeast Missouri Redhawks will play home-and-home football series with the Central Arkansas Bears and the Eastern Kentucky Colonels, FBSchedules.com has learned.
Southeast Missouri is scheduled to play both Central Arkansas and Eastern Kentucky this season as part of their 2022 football schedule, which was announced in March. Both contests are part of home-and-home series, according to copies of contracts obtained from Southeast Missouri State University via a public records request.
The Redhawks are scheduled to host Central Arkansas this season on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022 at Houck Stadium in Cape Girardeau, Mo. The series will conclude next season at Estes Stadium in Conway, Ark., on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, according to the copy of the contract.
Southeast Missouri and Central Arkansas first met on the gridiron in 1953 and have played 15 contests overall. In their most recent matchup in 1986, the Bears defeated the Redhawks 13-9 to even the series at 7-7-1.
Southeast Missouri will open their series with Eastern Kentucky at home at Houck Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022. The series will shift to Roy Kidd Stadium in Richmond, Ky., next season on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, per the contract copy.
The Redhawks and Colonels first played in 1990 and met most recently during the 2018 season. Southeast Missouri lost that contest 23-14 on the road and trails in the overall series 24-5.
Southeast Missouri is scheduled to open the 2022 season on the road against the Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday, Sept. 3. The Redhawks begin Ohio Valley Conference action on Saturday, Oct. 1 on the road against the Lindenwood Lions.
Football Schedules
Eastern Kentucky University did not play in the Spring of 2021. Instead EKU played a nine game schedule in the Fall of 2020. You may have mistaken EKU for EIU (Eastern Illinois) for this Spring of 2021 contest.
