The Fordham Rams have canceled their first three 2020 football games due to the Patriot League COVID-19 guidelines, the school announced Tuesday.
The cancellation of the Sept. 5 game with Bryant accompanies previously announced cancellations of an Aug. 29 home date with Stony Brook and a Sept. 12 trip to Hawaii.
(Update:Â A previous version of this post mentioned a cancellation with Central Connecticut, which was in the original release. That release — and this article — have been updated.)
“I’m disappointed for our student-athletes, coaches, staff, and fans that we had to cancel the first three games of the season, but the health and wellbeing of our student-athletes is our number one priority,” said Fordham interim director of athletics Ed Kull. When we return to campus we will follow all guidelines and precautions mandated by the NCAA, the Patriot League, and the University to protect all involved in our program and department.”
Fordham reiterates in the release that it looks to reschedule all lost games and add a game during its Oct. 24 bye week.
The Rams are now slated to open the 2020 campaign Sept. 26 at 2019 Big South champion Monmouth.
Football Schedules
- Fordham Football Schedule
- Bryant Football Schedule
- Stony Brook Football Schedule
- Hawaii Football Schedule
This makes no sense As it is only 100 miles between the two schools so no need to fly or stay over night
Fordham was NOT scheduled to play Central Connecticut this season. CCSU is scheduled to host the Rams next year on Sep. 18. The two teams will also play at New Britain in 2024, and again in 2025 at Fordham.

However, we know that Valpo cancelled their Sep. 19 game in New Britain and CCSU will not be taking the road trip to Robert Morris on Nov. 14. And if the Ivy League moves their season to the Spring, CCSU will lose a thrird opponent – Oct. 10 at Columbia.
The article plainly says that they were scheduled to play on August 29, 2020 not sure if this was a typo but that’s what the entire article was about
The original copy from Fordham said the following, which led to what we posted:
That said, we’ve corrected the copy and the headline, following an updated release from Fordham.
