The Arkansas State Red Wolves have added the Alcorn State Braves to their 2012 football schedule, Arkansas State Director of Athletics Dr. Dean Lee announced Wednesday.
Arkansas State will host Alcorn State at ASU Stadium in Jonesboro on September 22, 2012. The game will be the first ever meeting between the two schools.
The addition of Alcorn State completes Arkansas State’s 2012 non-conference football schedule. The Red Wolves open the season at Oregon on Sept. 1, host Memphis on Sept. 8 and travel to Nebraska on Sept. 15.
Arkansas State is currently 8-2 overall and 6-0 in the Sun Belt Conference.
The Sun Belt has had a real nice run this year….Arkansas State,La-Lafayette and even Western Kentucky have solid years. While I’m a WAC fan…I do think Louisiana Tech would do well in the SBC or maybe even C-USA…
I think it was good to schedule Alcorn State. However I do not think the red wolfs are ready for Oregon nor Nebraska. I hope we get lucky and do come away with a win in both games but I am also realistic. I see wwe at A S U are a few years from being able to consistantly play on the level of Oregon or Nebraska. Our new head coach will definately get the program to where it can compete with anyone in the F B S but it is not there now. Sorry just being honest.
