The Sacramento State Hornets have added the Colorado State Rams and the Dixie State Trailblazers to their future football schedules, the school announced on Friday.
Sacramento State will travel to play Colorado State at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins on Sept. 24, 2022. The game will be only the second meeting between the two schools following a 23-20 Colorado State victory back in 2008.
Colorado State is the second announced non-conference opponent for Sacramento State in 2022. The Hornets are also scheduled to play at Fresno State on Sept. 3.
Sacramento State and Dixie State will play a home-and-home series in 2020 and 2021. The series will kick off with the Hornets hosting the Trailblazers at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento on Oct. 3, 2020. Sacramento State will then travel to face Dixie State at Trailblazer Stadium in St. George, Utah, the following season on Sept. 4, 2021.
Dixie State is moving up to the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) and will compete as an Independent.
Sacramento State was previously scheduled to play at California on Sept. 4, 2021. According to the release, that contest has been pushed back two weeks to Sept. 18.
Sacramento State’s 2020 non-conference schedule is now tentatively complete. The Hornets are also slated to play at San Diego State (Sept. 5) and Washington (Sept. 12). The Hornets will also travel to face fellow Big Sky Conference member Idaho State in a non-conference matchup on Sept. 26.
