The Appalachian State Mountaineers will play at the Texas A&M Aggies in 2022, the school announced on Friday.
Appalachian State will travel to take on Texas A&M at Kyle Field in College Station on Sept. 10, 2022. The game will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
“We’re excited to add another nationally recognized program like Texas A&M to our future football schedule,” Appalachian State director of athletics Doug Gillin said. “The trip to Texas should be a great experience for our team and fan base.”
App State now has nine games scheduled against Power Five opponents: at Penn State (2018), at UNC (2019), at Wake Forest (2020), at Wisconsin (2020), at Miami, FL (2021), vs. UNC (2022), at Texas A&M (2022), at UNC (2023), and at Clemson (2024).
The addition of Texas A&M tentatively completes Appalachian State’s non-conference schedule in 2022. The Mountaineers are slated to open the season vs. UNC (Sept. 3), play consecutive road games at Texas A&M (Sept. 10) and Marshall (Sept. 17), and then host Akron (Sept. 24).
App State is Texas A&M’s second scheduled non-conference opponent for 2022. The Aggies are scheduled to host the Miami Hurricanes on Sept. 17.
