The Kansas Jayhawks will host Nicholls State in 2018 and Indiana State in 2019, FBSchedules.com has learned.
Kansas will host the Nicholls State Colonels at Memorial Stadium in Lawrence on Sept. 1, 2018. Nicholls State will receive a $450,000 guarantee for the game, according to a copy of the contract obtained from the University of Kansas by FBSchedules.com via an open records request.
Nicholls State, a member of the Southland Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), has never faced Kansas on the gridiron. Last season, the Colonels finished 3-8 overall and 3-6 in conference play.
Kansas will open the 2019 season at home against the Indiana State Sycamores on Aug. 31. The Sycamores will also receive a $450,000 guarantee, according to a copy of the contract.
Indiana State plays in the Missouri Valley Football Conference in the FCS. The Sycamores have faced the Jayhawks twice in their history, falling 37-10 in 1985 and 20-6 in 1986.
With the addition of Nicholls State, Kansas has tentatively completed their 2018 non-conference schedule. The Jayhawks are also slated to travel to Central Michigan on Sept. 8 and host Rutgers on Sept. 15.
In 2019, Kansas is also set to travel to Houston on Sept. 14 and needs one additional non-conference game.
Kansas’ football program is a disgrace. In 2020, they are looking to play Emporia St.
Kansas might beat Nicholls by 17……….and Ind. State by a FG.
I think Indiana State can take the Jayhawks……
agreed
ISU will beat KU.
Whew. Fans were worried they’d pick up NDSU again and lose a few more times.
When most P5 teams schedule these games we call them cupcakes and blast them (SEC). When The Mighty Jayhawks schedule them we call it HOPE! Hope that Kansas can get a rare win or hope that an FCS can beat a so called FBS. Win, Win!!!!!
FCS schools have some talent, there’s a bunch of schools there that could beat the snot out of FBS teams so automatically calling such games a “cupcake” based upon FCS/FBS is really ignorant.
Nicholls State will be a cupcake, though.
