The North Carolina Tar Heels and the Charlotte 49ers have scheduled a home-and-home football series for 2024 and 2025, the two schools announced today.
In the first game of the series, North Carolina will host Charlotte at Kenan Memorial Stadium in Chapel Hill on Sept. 7, 2024. The Tar Heels will then travel to face the 49ers at Jerry Richardson Stadium on Sept. 6, 2025.
“We are excited that we are able to announce this series, both for our program and our fans,” said 49ers Director of Athletics Judy Rose. “This is another step in the many that we have taken in the development of our program. With our move to the FBS and into Conference USA, we have continued to upgrade our schedule. Today is another important step.”
Charlotte just began their first season as a member of Conference USA. In their first contest, they won at Georgia State 23-20.
UNC is the second ACC team to scheduled a home-and-home series with Charlotte. The 49ers are slated to play Duke in 2020 and 2021, and they also have a single contest at Louisville in 2016.
Charlotte’s future non-conference schedules are currently complete through the 2018 season. The 49ers need one game in 2019, two in 2020 and 2021, and three from 2022 through 2025.
The 2024-25 home-and-home series between North Carolina and Charlotte are the first games scheduled for each team for both seasons.
Football Schedules
Yes, Charlotte is such as hot commodity UNC needs to schedule what is a “fill the schedule cream puff OOC” 10 years in advance.
In state school, part of the same UNC system, C-USA ….not that big a deal. Much better than an FCS school.
Bring on the Cheaters….GO NINERS!!!
They can’t beat ECU, so they may as well start scheduling Charlotte instead.
