The Colorado State Rams have canceled their football game at the Wisconsin Badgers in 2027, according to a report from Pete Thamel of ESPN.
The Rams had been scheduled to travel to Madison to face the Badgers on September 18, 2027, at Camp Randall Stadium. Wisconsin was set to pay Colorado State a $1.55 million guarantee for the matchup.

Per the copy of the contract obtained via a previous public records request, that guarantee is now what Colorado State will owe Wisconsin unless the two programs negotiate alternate terms. Wisconsin is expected to replace the Rams with UMass, suggesting a revised arrangement may already be in motion.
The Badgers’ 2027 schedule opens overseas, with a matchup against Pitt in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic in Dublin on August 28. Wisconsin is also slated to host Southern Illinois on September 11.
Colorado State, meanwhile, has been rumored to be pursuing a home game against Wyoming in 2027 to continue the Border War rivalry. Whether that materializes remains uncertain.
The rest of Colorado State’s nonconference slate next season includes home games against Arizona (Sept. 4) and Houston Christian (Sept. 25), along with a road trip to Sam Houston on Sept. 11.
Wisconsin adding UMass makes no sense, as UMass already has a full non-conference slate and has very little flexibility to move their games to later years.
It makes sense because nothing makes sense in college football scheduling anymore.
I don’t think Colorado State is replacing it with Wyoming as that would be an away game for CSU. Otherwise, the Rams would host Wyoming three years in a row.
