The North Texas Mean Green have added the Central Arkansas Bears to their 2031 football schedule, FBSchedules.com has learned. A copy of the football game contract was obtained from the University of North Texas via a state of Texas Public Information Act request.
North Texas will host Central Arkansas at DATCU Stadium in Denton, Texas, on Saturday, August 30, 2031. The Mean Green will pay the Bears a $375,000 guarantee for playing the game, according to the copy of the contract.
North Texas, a member of the American Conference, and Central Arkansas, a member of the United Athletic Conference in the FCS, have never met on the gridiron in their history. The Mean Green have only faced one current member of the UAC previously, Abilene Christian, while the Bears hold a 3-5-1 record against current American members.
The Mean Green now have all four non-conference opponents set for their 2031 schedule, which begins with the Central Arkansas contest. Other opponents include UTEP on the road on Sept. 6, which we reported Monday, Missouri on the road on Sept. 13, and Western Michigan at home on Sept. 20.
Other future FCS opponents for North Texas include Houston Christian (2026), Tarleton State (2027), East Texas A&M (2028), and North Alabama (2029).
North Texas is the first known non-league opponent for Central Arkansas for the 2031 season.
Central Arkansas also has future FBS games scheduled against Florida State this fall and Arkansas State in 2027.
