The Southland Conference has released a revised 2022 football schedule following the return of Lamar and UIW.
Lamar departed the Southland Conference last year for the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) and played one season there before announcing their return to the Southland. UIW planned to join the WAC on July 1, 2022, but opted to remain in the Southland Conference just days before their departure.
Under the new schedule, Southland Conference action in 2022 will begin with a pair of games on Saturday, Sept. 24, featuring Lamar at Northwestern State and UIW at Southeastern Louisiana.
According to the release, a previously scheduled non-conference contest featuring UIW at Nicholls on Saturday, Oct. 15 will remain on the schedule but will not count in the conference standings.
Kickoff times and television designations will be announced at a later date.
