The Missouri Tigers and the Arkansas State Red Wolves have scheduled a home-and-home football series for 2013 and 2015, both schools have announced.
Missouri will host the first game of the series at Faurot Field in Columbia on Sept. 28, 2013. Arkansas State will host the second and final game at Liberty Bank Stadium in Jonesboro on Sept. 12, 2015.
Missouri and Arkansas State have played twice, once in Columbia, MO (2004) and once in Kansas City, MO (2005). The Tigers won both games 52-20 and 44-17, respectively.
The addition of Arkansas State completes Missouri’s 2013 football schedule. The Tigers were the last remaining SEC team that needed a non-conference opponent.
Missouri opens the 2013 season at home vs. Murray State on Aug. 31 followed by Toledo on Sept. 7. The Tigers then hit the road to face Indiana on Sept. 21 before returning home to play Arkansas State.
In SEC play, Mizzou hosts Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas A&M and travels to Georgia, Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Vanderbilt.
“We’re very pleased to finish out our 2013 schedule with a quality opponent such as Arkansas State,” said Missouri Executive Associate Director of Athletics Bryan Maggard. “Due to recent changes in the Sun Belt Conference, we were able to secure this game, and we appreciate the efforts of Arkansas State’s administration in making this happen,” he said.
Missouri is the fifth and final game for Arkansas State’s 2013 non-conference schedule. The Red Wolves open the season at home against Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Aug. 31) before traveling to face Auburn (Sept. 7), Memphis (Sept. 21), and Missouri. ASU’s final non-conference game is at home on Oct. 12 against Idaho.
Football Schedules
How many Sun Belt teams need opponents now?
With stAte, tx state, Troy, and usa with certain games, and ull rumored to have nm state scheduled, that leaves 4 teams
Actually, Georgia state has a game, but ull, ulm, and wku are still without a game
That’s right. WKU should play Syracuse or Wake Forest, ULL should play NMSU, and ULM should play WF or ‘Cuse.
Under NCAA rules ulm needs 5 home games, but only has 1 ooc home game and 3 SBelt home games, so no acc, probably fcs team visiting malone
Wku has stated they would get game 12 from fcs
Jonesboro? Arkansas State may want to consider that game to Little Rock. I am sure they could sell out all 54,000 seats if they did.
Our AD has stated he doesn’t want to do that. He wants the BCS AQ teams to come to Jonesboro and wants to play teams we have a good chance to beat in Little Rock.
Does ASU have the capability to add temporary seating?
Not that I’m aware of. They might be able to put people in the grass by the end zone seats.
Reports are that all sunbelt teams hav found game 12, any truth to that?
So does that mean MIZZOU denied BYU offer from 2013-2015?
