The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will open the 2013 football season at the NC State Wolfpack, the Shreveport Times has reported.
The game will be played at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, likely on Aug. 31. An exact date was not specified, but NC State athletic director Debbie Yow stated that they “…will be opening with Louisiana Tech, a Top 20 team.”
North Carolina State and Louisiana Tech have never met on the football field.
The announcement should complete Louisiana Tech’s 2013 non-conference football schedule. After opening at NC State, the Bulldogs play at Houston (Sept. 7), at Kansas (Sept. 21) and then face Army in the Heart of Dallas Kickoff Classic at the Cotton Bowl (Sept. 28).
NC State’s 2013 slate should also be complete. The Wolfpack are scheduled to host Central Michigan (Sept. 14), East Carolina (date TBA), and Richmond (date TBA).
The Wolfpack fired head coach Tom O’Brien over the weekend. In his six seasons in Raleigh, O’Brien had an overall record of 40-35. Interestingly, Louisiana Tech head coach Sonny Dykes is one of a few names that have been mentioned as a possible replacement for O’Brien.

Sounds like a compensation for the possible hiring of Dykes. “We can contact Dykes and pay you to play a game at our site.”
