The Mississippi State Bulldogs have added the Alcorn State Braves to their 2013 football schedule, the school announced this afternoon.
Mississippi State will host Alcorn State at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville on Sept. 7, 2013. In their first and only meeting in 2010, the Bulldogs defeated the Braves 49-16.
“It remains important to us to schedule teams from the state of Mississippi,” MSU director of athletics Scott Stricklin said. “We’ve played Jackson State and Alcorn State and have Southern Miss on the schedule in coming years. We feel it benefits Mississippi State University, as well as our opponents and the state of Mississippi.”
MSU was previously set to travel to face the UAB Blazers on Sept. 7, so it’s likely that the Bulldogs will postpone that game or cancel it altogether. Mississippi State and UAB also have a game set for Sept. 6, 2014 in Starkville.
The Bulldogs scheduled Alcorn State to gain a seventh home game. Last week, the school confirmed it will play Oklahoma State in the 2013 Texas Kick Off Classic in Houston.
Mississippi State 2013 Schedule
- 08/31 – Oklahoma State (at Houston, TX)
- 09/07 – Alcorn State
- 09/21 – Troy
- 10/12 – Bowling Green
So what happens to the Troy-Alcorn St game that was also scheduled on 9/7?
Didn’t know about that one. Probably moved to a different date or postponed.
Guess Savannah State was too busy…..
