The BYU Cougars will play at the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers this weekend, it was officially announced on Thursday.
BYU will travel to take on Coastal Carolina at Brooks Stadium in Conway, S.C., on Saturday, Dec. 5. The game will be televised by ESPNU at 5:30pm ET, although that is subject to change due to other possible game postponements, cancellations or rescheduling.
To make the contest even more interesting, ESPN College Gameday will also be in town and televising their pregame show live from 9:00am ET to Noon ET. ESPN previously announced their trip to Conway when the Chanticleers were slated to host the Liberty Flames (9-1), but that game has been canceled due to COVID-19 issues at Liberty.
“We’re grateful that this game between our two teams could be put together in such a timely fashion.” said BYU Director of Athletics Tom Holmoe. “It’s good to have a partner like ESPN that can help put together such a meaningful game at this point of the season.”
Both BYU and Coastal Carolina come into the highly anticipated contest with perfect 9-0 records this season. BYU is currently ranked 13th in the College Football Playoff Rankings and 8th in the AP Poll, while Coastal Carolina is ranked 18th and 14th, respectively.
Following the Coastal Carolina game, the BYU Cougars are scheduled to host the San Diego State Aztecs on Saturday, Dec. 12. That will likely be BYU’s final regular-season game.
Coastal Carolina has at least two more contests scheduled this season. The Chanticleers are slated to play at the Troy Trojans on Saturday, Dec. 12 and then return to Brooks Stadium to host the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns in the Sun Belt Championship Game on Saturday, Dec. 19.
Football Schedules
Well done for both teams. The winner of the game will have a better shot at a NY6 Bowl. Liberty was a fine opponent, but BYU carries more respect with the CFP committee.
