The Jacksonville State Gamecocks have completed their fall 2020 football schedule with a new date for their game at the FIU Panthers, the school announced on Thursday.
Jacksonville State was originally scheduled to open the 2020 season tonight at FIU, but FIU postponed the start of their season through September 16 due to the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
The Gamecocks will now travel to take on the Panthers at Riccardo Silva Stadium in Miami, Fla., on Friday, Oct. 23, 2020. The contest will be streamed live via ESPN+ at 7:00pm ET.
“We are excited to be able to find another date to be able to reschedule our game at Florida International,” JSU Athletics Director Greg Seitz said. “Playing at home and keeping those previously scheduled games were very important to us, and we were able to get all of those things done. To be able to add a trip to Florida State to that schedule was really the icing on the cake and a huge game for our program and for Jacksonville State University. We couldn’t be happier with our four-game fall schedule.”
Jacksonville State opens their four-game fall football schedule on Saturday, Oct. 3 when they travel to take on the Florida State Seminoles at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Fla. The Gamecocks are also scheduled to play at Florida State next season on Sept. 11.
The following week on Saturday, Oct. 10, Jacksonville State hosts their lone non-conference opponent, the Mercer Bears, at Burgess-Snow Field at JSU Stadium in Jacksonville, Ala. Kickoff is set for 3:00pm ET with streaming coverage on ESPN+.
Jacksonville State then travels to take on the North Alabama Lions at Braly Memorial Stadium in Florence, Ala., on Saturday, Oct. 17. The game will be streamed via ESPN+ at 2:00pm ET.
The Gamecocks wrap up their fall slate with the previously mentioned game at FIU. In the spring, Jacksonville State will play a seven-game Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) football schedule that is expected to start on Saturday, Feb. 27.
