The Miami Hurricanes have added the Central Connecticut Blue Devils to their 2021 football schedule, FBSchedules.com has learned.
A copy of the football competition agreement between the University of Miami and Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) was obtained from CCSU via a state Freedom of Information Act request.
Miami will host Central Connecticut at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla., on Sept. 25, 2021. The Hurricanes will pay the Blue Devils a $650,000 guarantee for the game, according to the copy of the contract.
The 2021 contest between Miami and Central Connecticut will mark their first-ever meeting on the football field.
Central Connecticut is a member of the Northeast Conference (NEC) in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Blue Devils won the NEC championship in 2019 and advanced to the FCS Playoffs where they fell at UAlbany in the first round, 42-14.
Miami has now completed their non-conference football schedule for the 2021 season with the addition of Central Connecticut. The Hurricanes are scheduled to open the 2021 season against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga., on Saturday, Sept. 4.
Miami’s other two non-conference games in 2021 are scheduled to be played at Hard Rock Stadium. The Hurricanes will host Appalachian State on Sept. 11 and Michigan State on Sept. 18.
In ACC action in 2021, Miami is scheduled to host Georgia Tech, NC State, Virginia, and Virginia Tech and travel to Duke, Florida State, North Carolina, and Pitt.
The Hurricanes are the fourth non-conference opponent for Central Connecticut in 2021, which should make their schedule complete. CCSU is scheduled to open the season at home against Fordham on Saturday, Sept. 4.
Remaining non-conference contests for the Blue Devils in 2021 include a trip to face Monmouth on Oct. 2 and Columbia at home on Oct. 9.
