The Alabama State Hornets have announced their 2020 football schedule, which includes five contests at home.
Alabama State will open the 2020 season on Saturday, Sept. 5 at home at ASU Stadium in Montgomery, Ala., against the Tuskegee Golden Tigers in the Labor Day Classic.
The Hornets then head out for consecutive road games at the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Sept. 12 and the Kennesaw State Owls on Sept. 19. The two-game road trip closes out non-conference action in 2020 for ASU.
On Sept. 26, Alabama State hosts their Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) opener against the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils at ASU Stadium. The Hornets then play at the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions on Oct. 3 before hosting the Southern Jaguars on Oct. 10.
Next, Alabama State travels to take on the Grambling State Tigers on Oct. 17, which is followed by the Hornets’ first open date of the season on Oct. 24.
On Halloween (Oct. 31), Alabama State takes on the Alabama A&M Bulldogs in the Magic City Classic. The annual contest, which is played at Legion Field in Birmingham, Ala., drew 37,852 fans last season.
Alabama State’s November slate begins on the 7th with a trip to Lorman, Miss., to play the Alcorn State Braves.
The Hornets close out the 2020 season with back-to-back games at ASU Stadium. Alabama State hosts the Jackson State Tigers on Nov. 14 and then, after their second open date, the Texas Southern Tigers in the Turkey Day Classic on Thursday, Nov. 26.
Alabama State is 5-5 overall and 4-2 in SWAC play so far this season. The Hornets’ final game of the 2019 season is against the Prairie View A&M Panthers on Thanksgiving day.
